DOWNTON Abbey may have left everyone in tears on Christmas day but Joanne Froggatt often leaves the set crying with laughter. The 32-year-old, who plays Anna Bates in the TV hit, says she couldn’t contain herself while making the last series.
Michelle Dockery [Lady Mary Crawley] and I did have a corpsing day on the last series,” she reveals.
“It was late in the afternoon, we were both really tired and we were joking about a line in the scene. As soon as Michelle went to say it we couldn’t stop laughing. We were both in tears but felt so guilty because there’s so much to get done.
“It’s that school assembly feeling where you think, ‘I shouldn’t be doing this!’ but I couldn’t stop myself.”
